DSGN AGNC is working with the Corona Self-help Center — Drogadictos Anonimos (DA) on a comprehensive research and design project for their La Mision group in Miami, Florida. This project includes the design of policy and social recommendations as well as housing, educational, production and meeting spaces.
The project rethinks the existing campus in Miami to add:
-flexible dorm areas
-a chapel
-areas of economic activity — including production areas, a green house and a store to sell bonsai, clothing and other goods produced by the DA community
-offices
-increased circulation
The design uses a series of vegetated panels to create spaces for therapeutic programs and to increase larger communal areas for production, engagement and entertainment. Together these spaces have the potential to increase DA’s capacity to provide services and increase their resources.
HOUSING AREAS
The Housing Areas have been designed to be flexible with beds that can be put away to increase the amount of small meeting spaces for recovery groups.
